The Executive Director for Marketing and Communications is responsible for the execution and oversight of all aspects of the University’s efforts to develop, implement, evaluate and refine a comprehensive University marketing and communications strategy. The strategy is designed to contribute to the attainment of various University priorities, including but not limited to the promotion and development of a consistent, professional and future-oriented image of the University.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Responsible for the development and implementation of Husson’s internal and external communications strategies and global branding.
•Lead and manage a staff of marketing and communications professionals.
•Provide guidance and leadership for a cohesive, collaborative, effective communications and marketing team responsible for marketing, advertising, media (including social media) web presence, public relations functions and governmental relations.
•Develop positive and collaborative working relationships with community groups, organizations, and agencies at the local, state, and national levels.
•Promote solicitation and development of external funding initiatives through the development and implementation of a grants program for selected institutional and program priorities.
•Lead the organization in a multidisciplinary, high volume environment with multiple projects moving forward simultaneously while anticipating future demands and opportunities.
•Represent the University to diverse constituencies with creativity, initiative, diplomacy, excellent communications skills.
•Ability to represent the University with the highest level of professionalism, both internally and externally.
•Experience in organizational leadership and strategic planning with strong analytical, planning, and execution skills.

•Experience as an accomplished leader in a multidisciplinary, high volume environment who has the ability to keep multiple projects moving forward simultaneously while anticipating future demands and opportunities.
•Demonstrated excellence in a variety of competencies including: project management, teamwork, analytical thinking and client/customer awareness.
•Ability to develop, supervise staff, and work with changing priorities and multiple projects.
•Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including a high level of attention to detail and active listening skills.
•Able to problem-solve and troubleshoot, in addition to the ability to work independently in a dynamic team environment. Demonstrated ability to effectively partner with a diverse group of administrators.
•Able to negotiate issues, resolve problems and have strong influencing skills.
•Must be a strategic thinker, effective in moving strategic agendas, politically savvy, ensure the utmost discretion in all matters, as well as possess an ability to work well with all levels of management, both internally and externally, be flexible in nature, have a sound judgment with a collaborative style that fosters teamwork and cooperation beyond the immediate team to the broader organization.
•Must have a passion for excellent customer service and commitment to exceptional quality.
•Seven to ten years of progressive professional experience in the communications field.
•Master’s degree with expertise in public policy, governmental relations, strategic communication and public relations roles.
