Experiential Learning

Husson's teacher education curriculum is designed to bring students into the real world of schools from the very first year. Education and liberal arts courses are taught side-by-side. Husson's classroom is extended into the community. We believe that teaching our children and shaping the well-being of future generations is a challenge for those among us most committed to making the world a better place.

At Husson, the Teacher Education programs are designed to combine practical experience with a strong academic foundation. Our classes are small which means that students get to know the faculty. Working with the faculty on such a personal basis will help prepare you for the rewards and challenges of teaching in the classroom. Our purpose is to prepare students to be effective educators, critical thinkers, problem solvers, and life-long learners in the world of education.

Teacher Education Programs at Husson include degrees in:
  • Elementary Education
  • Physical Education (both teaching and non-teaching tracks)
  • Secondary Education (with concentrations in English, Life Science, and Physical Science)
When you declare your major, you will be assigned an advisor who will help you:
  • Plan your class schedule each semester
  • Make decisions about any changes in your course of study
  • Make sure that you are meeting all your requirements including practicum and student teaching experiences
  • Find solutions to any problems you may encounter with policies, procedures or academic issues
  • Navigate issues related to the Teacher Certification process
