A series of free workshops for cancer survivors and their caregivers are being planned at Husson University, offering invaluable support and providing essential resources and guidance on oncology rehabilitation, pain management, mental health, and more, empowering survivors to thrive beyond their diagnosis.

The Celebrate Life: Thriving Beyond Cancer workshops will take place on March 26 from 5:30 to 7:30pm and on April 9 from 5:30 to 7:30pm in the Libra Lecture Hall at Husson University in Bangor. Each workshop will tackle different topics.

The workshops are intended to fill a void in the local community by providing resources to local cancer survivors and their caregivers. They are being planned by Husson University's Doctor of Physical Therapy students as part of a two-year professional development project where graduate students work closely with two faculty members who are oncology experts.

The first workshop on March 26 will cover oncology rehabilitation, cancer related fatigue, exercise guidelines and pain management. The second workshop on April 9 will cover chemo-induced peripheral neuropathy, lymphedema and mental health. During the workshops, students will present information and facilitate discussions to allow attendees to engage with the material and connect with other participants.

The workshops are free to attend. In addition to the in-person gathering, attendance by Zoom will be available as well. To register for the workshops, contact Michelle Slike, at slikem@husson.edu or 207-941-7145.
